My Norcent (flashed as a Lite-On) has been having loader problems.

I see someone recommended a Creative DVD6240E drive to replace the one in the player, but I don't seem to be able to find it anywhere online.

Does anyone else have a recommendation for a different DVD-ROM drive that can be swapped in there without any modifications (other than really easy, basic stuff like removing the faceplate)?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Fonet,

It is not the drive that has the flas error. It is the firmware on the mainboard. But thanks for trying. I will save the file for the drive in case I get the rom repaired.

Once again, jtakeman, in my post #450 in a very bottom of page #15 in this treat is attached instruction on how to recover from a bad Rom flash and message #457 attachment contain links to All firmware ROMs available for this player. Please note that first and the oldest one is concentrated on Divx 3.11 playback (if you have a lot of this ones ;) [IMG]). Later ones sacrifice this old codec to improve newer ones and PQ. Any of them you can flash (properly, of course) as many times as you wish (flash chip's good for about 100,000. - flashes). If you would like to try my custom logo and background pictures (outer space images) newest firmware ready to burn in .iso format then let me now, I will send it to your email adress (file's too large to be accepted here)
