I am interested in buying a mid to high end pre amp that has 6 channel input. Not interested in digital inputs.
The only one i have read about is the McIntosh C45.
Does anyone have this preamp?
Does anyone know some other contenders?
Thanks

Whether you use them or not, I think you might have a hard time finding much of anything 6 channel that wont have digital inputs/outputs. Get the best analog component path you can afford, you are gonna use the digital connections at some point though, I can practically guarantee it.
Another product that fits your criteria is the Bel Canto Pre6. Never heard one, so I can't really say anything more. I think there are some reviews of it online.....

i found a Sony TA-P9000ES that looks pretty nice Its been out for a few years and has since been pulled off the shelves. May opt for it.
I dont own cable (never will) and all i have is a universal dvd player and turntable, and DLP projector for viewing films.
The Mcintosh looks great but will set me back 2800 or so. Which is a lot for just toggling between a multichannel input and phono. But then again it has a built in tuner and phono stage. Might be worth it.
thanks anyways guys!
Outlaw 950 has 6-channel ins and outs. Also a bunch of digital stuff. But only $800. Sounds like it's a lot more expensive.

I believe Audio Refinement also makes a 6 channel analog preamp, the Pre5 (5.1).

Probably the best 6 channel preamp available IMO presently is Ed Meitner's Switchman3 which is a 6 channel straightwire preamp that is free of any coloration. It doesn't get any better than this for a high end 6 channel preamp.

But is the Meitner switcher worth $20,000? To Bill Gates maybe. The difference between it and the Bel Canto Pre6 is probably not worth the $16,000 difference, at least IMO.

MSRP on the Meitner SM3 is $7500, priced, I believe less than the Bel Canto and the question asked on the original post was looking for a high end 6 channel preamp.
Definitely the best out there

The Bel Canto Pre6 is a 6 channel analog preamp, priced at $3,800. The BC PrePro is the digital processor, priced about $6,999.

Audio Research has a product that is entering the market, at about US$6500 that is worth considering as well.
Cheers,
Threshold is coming out with Dragon V which is a 5 channel integrated amp with bass management but no processing & very reasonable price. I believe the MSRP is $ 1800.00.
Copland makes a 6 channel tube preamp that is supposed to be very good.
Have you considered a used McIntosh C-39 with the factory 6 Channel Input upgrade? Audio Classics might help you. I have one and love it as it has functionality they have eliminated on their newer units, i.e, front panel camcorder inputs...

Ultimate Electronics is dropping the Krell line. I scored with a Showcase 7.1 AV processor for half off list!
It has a stereo balanced input and also an 8 channel balanced inputs and 8 channel balanced outputs. Ditto for single ended too, Circuitry is also fully balanced inside.
There are going fast...
Sound quality is spectacular too.

I find the site somewhat hard to navigate. I am trying to find info on the Copland CVA-306 tube pre-amp but I can't find much. I am planning on buying this unit in a few weeks. Did find one very positive review in a mag but nothing on the internet. Did you review the Copland unit?
see if adire audio still ships the vaza multichannel preamp.
google around :)

Actually, there is another very good, and very cheap alternative - a used Citation 7.0 ($500) modified by MSB technologies to add a 5.1 multichannel analog input via a DB-25 connector($385). I have this already and can attest to its excellent sound quality. Even better, the 2 channel bypass in the Citation is far better than any of the usual suspect in the AV market.

I won't defend the site's mechanics but I do not believe the Copland was ever reviewed so a search will net you nothing.
