Can anyone make a model recommendations for an HDTV Reciever that has ATSC/QAM reciever with CableCARD and HDMI interface? IEEE1394 IO and built-in PVR drive would be nice.

There have been a few product announcements ... but nothing shipping yet.

I appreciate the replies. I was planning on purchasing a Panasonic PT-60DLD64 which is going to have ATSC/NTSC/QAM/CableCARD integrated in the 60" DLP, but it looks to be delayed till 2005, so I am looking to the PT-60DL54 which does not have the ATSC/QAM section and purchase a seperate DTV reciever.

Would appreciate any suggestions for recievers. Thank you.

I'm interesting in something like this, I particularly want unencrypted FireWire. I don't want any other features, as bare bones (read: low cost) a way as possible to get my hands onto the unencrypted MPEG-2 transport stream from Comcast cable.

Anything like this come along?

I suppose $10/month for the 64xx PVR w/ functioning firewire is too much?

Really? Because I was following the annoucements in late '03/early '04 and I remember that the only STB (non-DVR) was from Motorola scheduled for about June '04, then pushed to Q3. I don't think they even bother to update the ETA, maybe because it was scrapped. Any news on the Motorola STB?

The rest were single tuner DVRs for Q4 '04, and only the Sony was released in March? '05. Any news on the the Motorola, LG, and Mits. DVRs?

I just don't believe CC v.1 STBs/DVRs are seen as viable.

No, it's not too much! I was looking at options like 169time and such - hundreds of dollars to mod already expensive equipment. That more meets my definition of "expensive" - particularly for something I think I should be able to do by default.

The problem with the Comcast PVRs is that the FireWire ports work, but the output is encrypted for nearly all channels when I have tried it. Ugh! Unless there is a mod/trick/soemthing I'm not aware of, a 64xx PVR won't help me much.

I've sort of continued this discussion here, take a look:
