Does anyone have any info on the LG LST-3510 DVD player/HD receiver? I'm particularly interested in the quality of the DVD player.
I had it for a short time. Returned it as I was not too impressed with deinterlacing.

I to returned mine because of poor DVD image. The OTA HD image was good and I like the idea of sending the native format to my PJ and let it do all of the work.

I agree with vinodk's and derek's posts, OTA HD was great, but DVD was average to poor, IMO.
I own it and love it. I have no regrets. It's a great receiver and an even better DVD player all in one. It's the same player as the 318 which I also own, the remote for the 318 will operate the 3510. I have it hooked up to a Sharp 30HV6U and the picture is flawless.
For the most part I really liked the picture quality that the DVD player put out. For good transfers it was outstanding, but for some less than stellar older movies it seemed to accentuate any noise/grain/imperfections in the picture. But I could live with that. I had a problem with the QAM tuner and when it came back from LG after they looked at that issue the DVD player would randomly cut out for a few seconds about 3 times an hour. I couldn't live with that so I returned it. If it hadn't had those quality control issues, I would be a very happy camper with the 3510A.

Tried it briefly.
Excellent OTA HD tuner.
Mediocre DVD player. Fair deinterlacing characteristics. The DVD suffered from the "desaturated green" syndrome via DVI because the player passes the SD color matrix when upconverting the material to 1080i/720p.

I have owned the DVB318 and now own the LST-3510a, and the DVD playback quality seemed to be quite comparable when set to 1080i via component. Note that you cannot upconvert copyrighted DVD's via component with the 3510a, but you can upconvert DVD backups because the copyright protection has been removed. Overall I find the 3510a to be a better value for me because I need both an upconverting DVD player and an OTA tuner. I have not tested either unit with DVI but from what I have read there are better players than these for use with DVI. However you should keep in mind that if you need both an OTA HDTV receiver and an upconverting DVD player and want both sent through DVI, the 3510a will switch between them for you. This adds a great deal of value to the unit as well if you only have one DVI port on your display.

cmunro,
Are you sure it's the same player? I haven't tried the 318, but want to unless it's the same player.
The remote may operate both the 318 and the 3510A, but they are not the same player. The 3510a does not have the Faroudja deinterlacer for one thing.
I have an early model 3510a that upconverts DVD's over component. I do not need this anymore. I will be parting with it soon because I do not need OTA HD anymore, but if someone on AVS would like it PM me. It was in my bedroom and saw very little use.
Don't even get me started on the LG-3510A. Just do a search for all of my postings.
