Finally got to play with some of the velo's DLS series...new cabinet design and cosmetics, tweaked amps, and a REMOTE....actually VERY impressive for their price points...well thought out....Anyone else been able to play with them? Impressions?

bump...
has phase selector on remote 90,180,270,0.....
has volume on remote.....
has feedback light on sub that can be turned off on remote....
has "night" mode for compressing really deep bass.....
has DSP settings movie, rock, jazz/classical, etc....
I heard that all new Velodynes WILL GET THIS...another maco step on my pronto & MX700

I don't have the DLS series but rather the new DPS series which is identical but without the remote...
Personally I find the DPS series to be a much, much more attractive sub!
Secondly I don't like the idea of the remote I would rather the front panel right on the sub...
Because and I may be wrong but all of the setting are done from the remote and I don't believe they have master controls directly on the sub, so if you were to lose, break or have the remote malfunction you are basically screwed!
I suggest looking at the DPS, much better looking all the great features and no remote to worry about...
Besides lets face it once you tweak your sub how often are you really gonna use that remote, except maybe for volume??
I personally just purchased the DPS-12 and so far so good, I love it!
hope this helps?

I happened across the Velodyne DLS3500R yesterday and thought it sounded very nice, especially at the price point. I am building a surround system with Boston Accoustics all around and thinking the Velodyne DLS3500 or 3750 may be my sub. I thought the remote was pretty cool although admit I hadn't thought through what happens if the remote breaks.

The Velodyne isn't the most powerful by any means but from the research I did they are an established company that makes quality products(and helps sponser this forum). The DLS series appears to be entry level but will be a big improvement over my cheap Sony sub I have shoved in the corner.

The DPS series and the DLS series are identical, except for looks...

The DLS series however comes in four woofer sizes, 8, 10, 12, 15!

The DPS series only come in 10 inch and 12 inch!

So if you are looking at the DL-3500R that would be an 8 inch sub...

I recommend going a little bit bigger cause a good sub is an investment and it would suck if you decide down the road it's not enough sub for you or if you move it to a bigger room or something...

a bigger sub gives you a bit more flexibility and functionality...
Just my .02 worth...

Gary, there is only one thing I can think of that sucks about the DLS-5000R!
Your probably gonna need someone to help you carry it LoL...
I have the DPS-12 and it's 60lbs and just small enough for me to get my arms around...
But have fun I can't wait to hear your thoughts on this beast!!

Ya I just checked it's 83lbs!!!
If you don't mind me asking how much did the sub cost you?
I have the 12" version in the DPS series which is identical to the DLS series, but there is a BIG leap between the 12" and the 15"!!!

I hooked up my new DLS 3750R last night. This is the one with the 10" speaker and weighs in at a slim 53 lbs! It looks like a piece of furniture almost. I haven't played with it enough to form an opinion as to sound quality, but so far so good. I do really like the looks and think the remote is pretty cool.

I am really enjoying my 3750 so far. I live in townhome so can't crank up the system much but so far finding the sub very "smooth". The cheap sub I had before was rather "boomy" so it is nice to have a sub that does what it is designed to. I am still tinkering with settings. I think I made a good choice. Sorry not more details yet.

Yes those are two lights. The one on the left(Blue) is the power light and when you use the remote the light flickers...But I have no idea what the other light is for......I haven't seen it light up yet.I have been playing with it a little and each time it gets better and better....I will keep you updated

Very nice setup you have there!

A quick question - have you had any thoughts about putting the center speaker above the TV on a shelf maybe?

I once helped put together a HT system for a friend and the budget was $15000 :D Ended up with a similar setup but by putting the center speaker up higher made a huge difference.

Thank you....Yes I have been thinking about that but the picture really doesn't show how the center is slightly pointed upwards where it is almost pointed directly at my ears....I will probably try that too....thanks.

You can definately see that the speaker is pointed upwards.

Dr Hsu commented on the Hsu board that the center speaker should be at least 2 feet off the floor.

Hey - I am sure it rocks now but it may sound even better :D

I like the floor too!
