View Full Version : JVC D-VHS 40K - component output
Hi
I currently have my jvc 40ku connected to my new 62" mits dlp set using firewire. Very slick, very good connection, very clear! I also connected it using composite a/v, which is fine too.
My question is the component out of the dvcr. I cannot seem to get any output from it. The tv shows a blue screen, saying no signal.
This is trying a d-theatre tape, and a vhs tape.
I've looked in the manual, which is very bad, and it shows nothing about component video out.
Am I missing something stupid?

Wiggle the cables. It seems stupid, but I had the same issue with the deck. I thought it was the cables, but it's some contact in the deck that gets loose. I'm assuming you get audio, but no video.

I don't know anything about your Mitsubishi monitor but if the cable connection is not the problem, it seems likely to me that it is an issue with the monitor. Does the monitor accept an HDTV signal using component video? Does the monitor need to have a menu option selected to accept an HDTV signal using component video?

Agree with Chris, most likely is the display doesn't resolve input format.
For Instance, some display takes only 480i but not 480p or visa. if you feed 480p, it will goes blank or display error message. Try play with the 40k output format

This set accepts both 720p and 1080i on component inputs.

The 40k manual addresses the component output connection on page 8.
Just to be sure, have a look at the configuration item in the 40K manual on page 56: TV Output 1

I forgot to follow up.
The deck was bad. I got a replacement and it works fine.
And FYI.
The mits wd-62525 does NOT accept any 720p inputs.

I own one. :)
It does not do 720p natively. I've even tried to put 720p into it from my samsung 841 dvd player, no dice. Blue screen, nothing
Wish it did!

This is a 720p native set. You may want to visit the Rear-Projection Display Devices forum for assistance (there are many users there using 720p succesfully).
