View Full Version : dila won't work...bulb?
I have a G11 with 776 hours on the bulb. The stand by light is on, when I push the operate button, the amber light goes on for @30 seconds. Nothing happens and then the green standby light goes back on. It did this several times last night and then began to work, but I'm not having the same luck tonight. Do these bulbs burn out like this or possibly something else wrong. I don't want to send it to jvc only to have them tell me I need a new bulb. Any ideas?
Thanks,
Bill
somtimes pushing the power pot up a little can aleviate these misstrikes. You could reset the bulb to see if that works. both are somewhat detailed prodecures.
the service shop can fix this in about 15 minutes probably
I tried the lamp reset but that didn't help. Where is this pot for the lamp located?
Bill
Is it still in warranty? If so, with that many hours I'd get a new lamp. It sounds like you have an arc strike problem, which could be the lamp or the arc start circuit. You could also try reseating the lamp, costs nothing to try this.
I pulled the lamp and reseated it with no luck. When I press the operate button I hear a faint buzzing sound from the area where the bulb and cooling fan are located for @3 seconds then nothing. I will order a new bulb. William, do you recomend a bulb from jvc or one from the cheaper source?
Thanks,
Bill

I had a similar problem with my G-15 after about 100 hours. I replaced the bulb without success and had to send the unit to JVC under warranty. They didn't tell me the precise problem, but I believe that a pc board was replaced. No problems since.
It's doubtful its the bulb.
I just dont know how proficient you are with fixing electronics but the power pot surrounding area is some serious voltage. I'll keep looking for my pic of where its at.
I think the Atlas lamps are better. and cheaper
The power level pot adjusts the DC current once the arc strikes, so it would seem unlikely to me that this is going to help if there is no arc.
I have seen lamps that were worn to the point that they would not strike, so it is possible. I think that the most likely cause is a failing strike circuit.
Good luck with it, Bill, and let us know if you figure it out.
Hi,
I have a same problem with my g15.
Is it easy to replace strike start pc board or better send to JVC?
Can I use old G1000 pc board for g15?
Thanks,
