Bought this TV at Costco, and was less than fully pleased with two picture geometry issues with 16x9: central dip (top and bottom) and top left higher than top right. As this TV is covered by a one year warranty, a local Toshiba service shop tried to fix the problems but couldn't. The shop stated that the picture was within specs, but since I was unhappy, Toshiba was going to send a new picture tube. We'll see what happens. On 4x3 viewing, the PQ is really good. Worst case scenario, I will return the TV to Costco.

I have toshiba 34hfx84 and you describe exact issue that I'm having.... hmmm
Toshiba service Vancouver talked with the service guy and suggested a fix using some "chevron?" magnets to be applied to the tube....
Tech was supposed to try it on the demo tv at the store/shop, as it has the same issues.... NO JOY
Now we're waiting to hear back from toshiba....
Maybe it's a glass surface issue at toshiba manufacturing?
not meaning to hijack the thread just thought that was strange seeing the same problem description from the same manufacturer with a different TV like that......
Good luck.

According to the service shop I'm using, Toshiba will do whatever to make the customer happy. I will let you know if happiness comes my way.

Rented a UHaul van (I live in Manhattan) and finally got my 36HF73 from Costco last week.
May have some subtle geometry issues but havent calibrated the set with Avia yet so not quite sure.
More urgently I'm having problems with the HD box (time warner's Pioneer 3510) connection to the set. Picture is good with DVI and even pretty good thru composite but when I use the component inputs (colorstream 1 or 2) the picture jiggles and and there are a bit of artifacts on the top edge. Sometimes it settles down if I reset the cables or let it play out for a few minutes. Starts up again if I switch inputs thru the set.
This is not a problem when connecting my DVD player with the component method and doesnt matter whether its via the receiver or not. Worst comes to worst I'll stick with DVI but my preference is component b/c I'd like to do both audio and video switching thru my receiver (a marantz sr7300.)
Any thoughts or time to call a Toshiba service center? BTW, also tried 3 different HD STBs and the cableguy was useless. Thanks.
