RTK:
Due to the WiRNS update which you did, you *should* (IMHO) do the following:
- network and input settings/change zip code (to one in your timezone, preferably out of your state)
-when prompted to select a provider, select "nothing" for each of your inputs and then "keep the settings"
-next, go back and change your zip code back to the one which you normally use.
-when prompted for providers, select the provider which you would normally use (keep in mind that WiRNS providers are prefaced by "WiRNS" in your provider list)
-keep the settings and then exit. You should be all set.
The reason for doing things this way is to ensure that all changes in protocol/interaction made with your upgraded version of WiRNS are received by your RTV. Control information, etc. is updated and all "older" data in the RTV should now be flushed.

thanks Wayne. I will follow your advice.
no guide in replay.but guide& PPV in wirns....tried the above...hung up in channel guide/replay guide/menu startup screen...only way to release it is unplug ac & ethernet
but then i cannot re-establish ethernet linkage...argghhh.
been able to recover from each upgrade for the last 2 months until now.

Did you use RC7? If so.... uninstall and wait for a fix to some shortcut issues to be posted by Ryan (very shortly).
If not, go into your ethernet settings and verify that it didn't reboot and kick into automatic connection method. Verify that your ip address is valid (the one which you assigned in WiRNS) and that your Primary and Secondary DNS addresses are your WiRNS ip.
Make sure that you shut down WiRNS and restarted it before doing a net connect.

ok will do...i get config screen for wirns,all pull downs but the one i need to reconfig,replays....cannot find that but it finds the others at the same IP..strange...ok...i'll wait

I have found that if I create a new "ToDo" on the replay to record shows, it will show up on WiRNS for the shows that didn't show up.
I have also been successful in editing replays. Please verify.

OK guys.. Just to let everybody know out here that all my components i.e Pansat 2500a, Replay TV, WiRNS, DVArchive are playing the same music now i.e IN SYNCH. The CA and IVS are working great. Thanks to the recently bought WBR2-G54 buffalo router + repeater kit which is a small extra repeater that acts as a bridge and connects to my replaytv. It's a small cute thing and looks wonderful sitting right next to my TV. WiRNS latest build is working great for me and DVArchive is downloading at 350KB/s which I believe means no packet loss.
Also my RTV downloaded Italian Job which is 2500MB within a day which to me is a great download time. I'm sure that it must've completed in much less time than that but I could only check the status when I retruned from work.
And now I cross my fingers for saying all this. Hope all works just fine as it's right now. Gonna buy another one of those WBR2G54 for my next Replay TV.
Great job everybody out here. Thanks to kjac, ryan, wayne, rtk, l8er, jorgejun and everybody who helped achieving this status.

RC8 thus far:
Everything working well with the exception of recorded shows in the WiRNS ReplayGuide List cannot be downloaded to PC. Clicking on the name of the show opens the small window which displays the show details, however it cannot be downloaded, my guess being because it sees the file size as 0. See below

my RC8 experience update:
For whatever reason a recording made last night is now recognized properly in the WiRNS ReplayGuide List can be downloaded to PC. Hopefully this trend will continue. Not sure if its possible a show recorded prior to WiRNS install could somehow be different or recognized as different.

when I configure the RTV to use wirns, it shows me a guide provider option of WIRNS - but this is for Direct TV only? SO I choose Dish Atlanta. The DISH atlanta guide had dozens of chanels that I've deleted from my Zap2 lineup... why?
Bigjohns: In your RTV setup menu choose WiRNS as the Sat provider, not Dish Atlanta or National.
I'm back to getting the "The page cannot be displayed..." error message when I try to download a recorded show from the WiRNS ReplayGuide list. Everything else seems to be working.

When I choose WIRNS it ONLY lets me configure a DTV box. That wont work for me - since I have DISH network.

You still need to choose WiRNS as the provider. In the receiver section, choose other, when it shows Custom in the selection box, press the Zones button. On that fine tuning screen you can enter whatever code you've been using for your Dishnetwork receiver (I use 0775) and adjust the fine tuning settings as necessary.

There will now be a little checkbox on the DataDirect Configuration page to enable or disable serial control. (i.e. the "(DirecTV)" string in the lineup).

Ok.. bad idea.. Same plugin, just doesn't rebuild todo when you load the page.

After installing WiRNS I started it in application mode using StartWiRNS.bat. The dialog box opened and I entered the WiRNS IP, the gateway IP and my DD login info.
WiRNS asked to auto discover the ReplayTV machines and after it finished asked me to edit the found RTVs. A browser opened and had an option to Edit the RTV. When I chose Edit I got a "The page cannot be displayed" message (attached).
I deleted the found ReplayTV and added it back again as new. I CTRL-C the application and restarted it as a service and updated the channel lineup.
When it was done I tried to edit the RTV I added and it crashed out again (but no exception statement because it's running as a service).
So, to answer your question, I tried to edit after starting, and after re-starting and it failed in both cases.

what about the issue with it telling me my replay does not appear to have a guide? Could it be because the RTV has a 200gb disk in it and it's pretty full??

ltj... unzip this into the plugins directory (both files with WiRNS shutdown), restart WiRNS & edit a replay. Then send me the log.

Done.. had a timeout value set.. changed it to see if the replay responds, then pulls the guide with no timeout.

RC9 everything working except still having problems downloading a recording from the WiRNS ReplayGuide List. While the list of recordings can be seen, clicking on the name of the program results in the little window opening up and instead of the seeing the program details and option to download or delete, I get the dreaded,
"The page cannot be displayed
There is a problem with the page you are trying to reach and it cannot be displayed..."

One feature that Kjac and I discussed some time back...
When looking at the guide, you mark the slots with a recording in 'red' up in the time bar.
Can you also 'cluster' the chanel listings that have recordings together up at the top of the screen?

Did notice that the foreign text characters--accents, etc.--look good on the WiRNS channel guide, but are still not working correctly on the Replay.

I can get the unit 5504 with image 5040_530510190.rtv to connect through Wirns 1.1.2b and update all the information. It completes up to the "Combining Data" stage and hangs at 75%.

its been a while but I had a similar issue once when I had the wrong gateway entered in the RTV setup menu
Thanks for the reply. What I found was I had entered the wrong gateway in the Wirns setup page. Corrected that and everything worked. Now that I have it set up, will the Replay try to access the mother ship automatically as in the past? If so I guess I need to keep Wirns running all the time.
If the RTV were to try to connect without Wirns running would it be able to connect and would that allow it to download the new software?
Is there a way to keep Wirns running and to be able to use DvArchive and the Poopli updater at the same time?

In win2k you go into the network config, set your main address STATIC. Then go to the advanced tab and add another IP address to your nic.

The 1.3.1.1 is not working for me. It recognizes my replays but whenever I try to add a new PPV (Dish Detroit) is shows me a blank error page and then everything falls apart. The guide update also terminates giving an exception. All was working good till yesterday with 1.3.1 on Feb 3rd release. All of a sudden, everything's dead. Database locked exceptions all over. nebo

sudhs, I had the same problem. I was running from command line. I just restarted after getting the error adding ppv. I was then able to add and do a guide update. I should note that I deleted the database and its backup file before launching 1.3.1.1.
BTW, you should probably start posting in Ryan's 1.3.1 thread. ;)

I tried this-- added 192.168.1.10 as a second IP address. Then went into DVA and selected the above address, saved it, and restarted DVA. DVA reports it can not start the server because another program is using port 80.
I am using static IP's. What else should I do?

Try leaving DVArchive on the default initial IP for the NIC and tell WiRNS to use the second IP. And/or add another IP and tell WiRNS to use it.
On my PC, 192.168.1.1 is the default initial IP for the NIC. I added 192.168.1.10 and changed DVArchive to use it, and added 192.168.1.20 and changed WiRNS to use it. (WinXP Pro SP2).
My example of adding 192.168.1.10 is based on the initial default IP being 192.168.1.1. If your LAN is using something other than 192.168.1.X then you need to adjust accordingly.
