View Full Version : Tv Stands / entertainment centers
I think I am comming back home here.. I have bought 2 LCD screens and had to take back both, one was great but only 20 inches, and the other was 27 inches but a off brand that was not as good.. so while I was on the forum checking to see what the next one I got will be, I read in my consumer report how the CRT is still the best picture, and a lot cheaper.. so I left the lcd/panel forum and started looking over here.. It seems like for less then the price I was planning to pay for a HD 26 inch LCD (Toshiba 26hl84) I could get a wide screen top of the line sony 32 inch XBR.. so I figure if I am paying around that price point I should have the best, so I am leaning towards the Sony..
The problem is if I do get another CRT, I will have to get a new entertainment center in my bedroom ( the one I have now is not the sturdiest, used to have a 25 inch on top of it).. so does anyone have any suggestions about good stands or entertainment centers where the Tv would be sitting about at least 3.5 feet up ( gotta view from bed ) that can hold this 200 lb beast? I would prefer if anyone has ideas from BB or CC ( so I can use the 18 month finance), but I will appreciate suggestions from anywhere
thanks

IKEA and SPECTRUM are the most affordable and are very sturdy and high so you don't have to sit on the floor to watch tv.
They support up to 200lbs. and can be found at bestbuy and walmart and target. Some are available online only but that's no big deal, i got mine in less than a week.
hope this helps.

I've been using this stand with my sony 34hs510 for over a year now, the bottom corners barely hand over, but very sturdy, and my wife liked the look of it:

you can only buy this online from bestbuy. It holds up to 200lbs, the same weight of my tv

This stand was merntioned in the other thread, it's cheap and looks decent. Get wife/gf approval first!

the stand mentioned above works perfectly with my Sony 34HS510, and was fairly easy to put together.
I'd go for anything by Bell'O or Salamander. Both make stands that are extremely nice-looking and very, very sturdy and in lots of different finishes. Prices are $349 - $2000+
I got the IKea KAXAS for my 30XS955:

I hid all the wires, so it looks nice. Depth/Width might be too small for a 34inch though. My 30XS has like 1inch of its rear base "pad" hanging off.

Have you looked at the TV stands on the BB and CC websites? I don't recall seeing any that put the TV up that high.....

I just bought a TV stand on clearance at my local Target for $75. It's pretty tall, not sure on the exact height. Anyway, I have the 34XS955 on it. It's rated to 240 pounds and it's definitely sturdy as heck. I believe it was originally manufactured by Sauder for Target. There's no Sauder logos on the outside of the box but that's who the instructions say made it. I'd check out Target and see if they have anything. This one was a maple looking veneer with a drawer that runs the width of the stand along with two large openings for components. I have about an inch or two on each side of the TV, although the TV hangs off the back a couple of inches.

I'm getting the MAGIKER from Ikea next week for my upcoming (hopefully soon!) 34" widescreen.
