I have an RCA F38310 and I am about to purchase an Xbox to plug into it. I am in need of a component video switch so I can plug my DVD player, Xbox and still have at least one other slot for future component. Can anyone make a suggestion or tell me what they are using with their F38310?

Lots of people here use the Pelican switcher.

I have to give two thumbs up to the Audio Authority 1154A. Auto-sensing, so all you do is turn on whatever source you are going to use. Also does digital audio switching and conversion (toslink <-> coax), but I don't use any of that. I run all the sources' digital audio to different inputs on my receiver so I can set them up differently.
Not as cheap as a Pelican, but not much more expensive either. And that I don't have to ever touch it is why it beats anything else near its price point, IMO.

'cept it only has 4 inputs and I want, oh, about 30 (or at least 7).
So buy 2 or 3 and daisy chain them. OR spend the money on something like this:
http://www.keydigital.com/lprodi.asp?Ic=KDMSW8X3
This gives you 8 inputs and 3 outputs. The 3 outputs can be very useful even if you have only 1 TV to allow things like pic in pic. Or, it can be used later for multiple sets.
The unit takes BNC connectors so you'll need to make up some cables. It is not cheap. I think it is around a grand but is a sweet piece. I use one and love it.
They also make a 4 in, 1 out piece.
These units will switch Composite, Component, S Video, RGBHV, Digital Audio (coax), and stereo analog audio. They are also remote controllable.
This is a whole 'nother league of switching and flexibility. It is not auto-sensing. Can't really be since it is multi-output.
I have no idea if this is something you would even consider. I just thought I'd mention it. It's a serious investment for the long term.

I still have the AA1154, although it's not in use as my receiver takes care of all the switching.
It autoswitches both component and digital audio automatically based on a hierarchal order. For example, source input number 1 will override any other source input if both source devices (xbox, dvd, etc) are on.
It worked very well...I was just getting too many STB in the HT.
I have sent you a PM.

That is impractical. I wish they'd make these things the standard A/V component size instead of these wimpy little boxes which I have no idea where to put. Also if they made them bigger they'd be able to have more inputs. I only would want 2 outputs for everything (one going to the VCR to record stuff that is input if desired), but the rest should be all inputs. Only Pelican has come close to doing what I want, but they only have 1 output and I guess there is some distortion of high-end HD signals.
The monster you linked to is way too much for what I need. And I certainly don't need the hassles of BNC.

I am also using the Audio Authority but I am now going to also use a Autopatch 8x8. You might want to check it out. They have various versions (up to 32x32 I think). They are not cheap but if you keep your eyes open you can find used ones cheaper.

I use the Audio Authority switch for XBox, PS2, and Gamecube. I like it, and from my experience Audio Authority is a good company.

I have a question on the AA1154a. I just bought one of these and here is the problem. When I hook everything up and apply power all the lights turn red then green and then all go out. If I turn on the X-Box nothing happens. No lights on the 1154a at all. Tried the PS2 on input two and still nothing. Used the reset shown in the manual and it does the same thing. Unplugged everything and tried all over and the same thing.
Any ideas or something else to try or did I just get a bad switch?
Thanks for any advice.

first thing you need to do is go double check all your plugs. and make sure everything is secure. after that i would try unpluging the aa box for a few sec and plug it back in then it should work. although i never had that problem with my aa box.

I tried that already. I've unplugged everything hooked up just one item different items etc and still get the same outcome. Once you reapply power all lights blink red then green and then nothing. You can't even manually select an input. You push the button and nothing happens.
I got an RMA and I'm going to return it and get another Zektor HDS4. I know it's more bucks but I have one in my main system and it really is nice.
Thanks,
Jim

I just purchased the pelican system selector pro PL-960. Purchased it from best buy for about $99.99. Its a little more expensive buying it from there then say from Eb or Gamestop. http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?j=1&id=1064000347511&type=product&ref=03&loc=01
It has component, s-video, and composite for every selection. Also the first three connections have optical and ethernet capabilities. The thing I also like about it is that it fits perfectly in my A\V rack. The only thing it doesn't do is auto sense the signal sent. So basically you have the push the corresponding button for the connection. You get 8 inputs, 7 in the back and one hidden in the front.
On the Audio video side there is no signal degradation. Works perfectly.
A better deal in my opinion.

Oh yea I have all of these connected to it.
1 digital cable
2 xbox
3 dvd player
4 vcr
The 4 left over inputs are empty waiting for something to be connected. The lighted face plates can be removed and rearrange any way you want. The next ones to be connected will probably be xbox2 and the PS3. With room to grow.
