View Full Version : gastage drape material. velour or velvet?
When people buy from gastage which is the thicker material velour or velvet? I plan to hang this from the ceiling via a rail, and want it thick to block out light, some sound, and also nice looking. I don't think I want those little ropies in the bottom of the drape.
Also what is the difference between the Bolt and the Cut? And is that strictly if your not doing a special size order. Thanks.
Cut means a certain yardage; i.e., you only need 15 yards of that particular fabric.
Bolt means you are buying the entire bolt which can be 50 yards or more depending on the fabric. (the price is a per yard price)
The little ropies (aka fringe) is something you would have to add when you build the drapes. Just a nice showy thing to have.
The web site has some good info on the differences in their fabrics for sound and light absorption. I would contact them directly for any additional questions you may have.
Hope this helps!
Thanks. Yeah figuring the cost, and came to the conclusion that its probably best if I build an internal wall instead and have a sliding door or double doors.
Actually switched back to drapes because the wall will make the other room to small.
I think I am going with georgia stage's velour. The price they quoted was alot cheaper than this custom place I got a quote from. I just have to call them back and make sure it is ready for hooks. Then buy a ceiling rail either locally if I can find one or online.
Any update on this? I'm looking for a source for velvet curtains to cover my screen.
