Hello,
I have the Monster Gamelink 400 X component cable and the Monster Gamelink Digital Coax adapter. I connected it to my Denon AVC-A1SRA yesterday and I get no signal. I've activated DD on the Xbox in the audio menu and I've verified that there's no problem on the amplifier by connecting another component.

Does anyone know what the problem could be? I've searched the forums but can't find a similar subject.

Cheers,
Magnus

I thought the only way to get Dolby 5.1 with the xbox is by using an optical(TOSlink) cable. I am using the Gamelink400x as well with the Lightwave 100x fiber-optic audio cable and it works fine. You mentioned using a digital coax adapter. What exactly is this doing? If you have a free optical port on your receiver, I would recommend using that instead.

The adapter is doing exactly what the toslink adapter is doing, giving you means to an end so you can connect either a fiber-optic cable or in my case a coax cable.

It sounds like an issue with the coax cable then. Is there any way you could test it with another component?

On the Denon side, do you have that digital port configured for the right input selection? (IE COAX1 = TV)

The 400x has that miniplug connection. So I am assuming you got your own miniplug to RCA converter or cable all together and running that to your receiver as opposed to the 100x minplug to toslink adaptor.

Are you able to get out any sound at all? What games/source are you using to output DD?

I haven't heard of anyone just using their own minplug to RCA convertor/cable on the 400x. Maybe the converter/cable you are using is the culprit as Monster/MS may have done something funky with their connection.

Like I said in my initial post, "I have the Monster Gamelink 400 X component cable and the Monster Gamelink Digital Coax adapter.", i.e. it's all Monster of the shelf hardware. I tried my coax cable with my DVD and there's no problems then, sound is just fine. I'm leaning towards the xbox being faulty right now.

Yes, it's configured for the right port.

I find almost no references out there to the Monster Gamelink XGLDC-A. Either it's not shipping yet, or it's long obsolete. Since you have one, I'm going to guess the latter. That being the case, are you sure it works? The obvious test would be to try the standard Gamelink Lightwave 100 for X-Box and see if that works. If that does, but your coax connection does not, then I'd say either your adapter, your cable (easy enough to test), or your receiver port (also easy enough to test) is busted.

Now, if even the XLW100K FO-10 doesn't work, either it's your Gamelink video cable or the X-Box.

Just for the record, I've never heard of anyone using anything other than the opical Lightwave x100 product for the Monster 400x. I've also never seen any mention of a non-optical product in any of the 400x literature. I'm not sure if this is the issue, but they might not be compatible for some reason. I think SMac770 has a point in that this would be the first thing to test.

I have the 400x and the lightwave optical for it. I also have my elcheapo miniplug to rca converter that I am using on my Audiogy2 ZS for digital coax out on the HTPC. I can connect the miniplug to the 400x tonight to see if I can get digital out from the 400x for coax if you don't figure it out by tonight.

Problem solved! Finally got a hold on someone at Monster who after some slithering admitted that the coaxial cable only worked with some amplifiers and not on others. This is why they discontinued the product. Got the lightwave cable instead and that one works like a charm;-)

Glad you got the audio working finally. Sorry for not posting back. I got lazy and forgot about unplugging my setup to test with the 400x.
