View Full Version : A new HT Builder magazine in my mailbox? Am I dreaming?

Someone pinch me... I must be dreaming!

I just got my mail today, and there was a shiny new issue (Nov. 2004) of Home Theater Builder just begging to be read. I'm especially amazed to have received it because I moved shortly after that last issue came out - I was a little worried my address change request wouldn't go through.

I'm looking forward to the article on how to build a backlit movie poster frame - the timing couldn't have been better!

I haven't received an issue in about 10 months. I've given up and decided that my money is lost. Pretty disappointing.

Got my November issue yesterday here too.
I too couldn't believe it.

I live in Virginia.

After waiting about two months to get my first issue of Home Theater Builder magazine, it came today. This has to be the thinnest mag I ever read. I am not very impressed! I hope my next issue comes within the next two months. (yeah right!).

Agreed, about the "light" content with this one. The previous issues have all been better, in my opinion. If you haven't already ordered those, I would. They show what the mag is capable of, at least.

I got mine on Thursday - yep, a nice surprise. It was not that bad a good issue (imho), nice info about the types of TV's etc and the backlight poster DIY part is a nice and useful one.

Fair enough, previous issues have been much more useful, however it depends on where the reader is in their in the HT stage. The DIY stage and riser issues were great for me, and if I was looking to purchase a new TV this issue may have been more helpful than previous ones (of course you could just read AVS ;) ).

Finally I do not have any problems with my subscription and to not regret getting it in the slightest. I really do hope this mag succeeds and does not go under, they deserve to do well (again mho).

I never received one at all. I had a 2 year subscription, and I think I received 3 or 4 magazines in total - and a renewal notice. Which went in the garbage.

Guys..I picked the Nov 04' issue at a local bookstore. I noticed the section about "back issues". Has anyone had these same delay issues with back issues. I saw a couple topics(like candy counter construction) that I would be inteested in ordering, but not if its 10 week wait...Thanks...

I ordered back issues and received them very promptly FWIW.

As did I. In fact, I skip the subscription, wait for an issue to show up, then I either check the local bookstore or order a back issue. Never missed an issue I wanted. :-)

When I ordered the back issues they arrived in about a week.

My goodness, I was surprised. I thought for sure that Home Theatre Builder was gone! A few months late, but welcome just the same. I was beginning to believe that my subscription had lapsed without a reminder. I didn't want to think the unthinkable. Its like feeding an addiction. Thanks guys, keep it coming.

Yes, I just received my November issue too, in Toronto.

I was a charter subscriber and should have received every issue, but there are 3 or so issues of HTB that I never ever received.

I have never missed issues from any of my subscriptions to other US magazines, but then they all seem to ship to Canada in bulk and get them mailed here in Canada (by a company called 'DeutschePost' I think). HTB, on the other hand, seems to mail directly from the US.

Any other Canadians experiencing missing issues of HTB? Or is my mailman building his own HT?

Is it just me, or does the picture of the popcorn maker on page 50 actually smell like popcorn?

I'm another Canadian who just received my November Copy - on the 10th of January. It's been so long since receiving the before November issue that I can't recall what month it was issued. If memory serves my correctly, (usually fails claims wife) the last copy I received was in the summer.

I have to admit, I was not impressed with this issue but at least it wasn't filled with ultra-high end (ultra-expensive) gear way out of my reach.

Has anyone wondered how many subscribers they have? I noticed Widescreen Review provides this information within the first couple of pages and was shocked to see how few they have - that is if I read it correctly. HTB must have more - at least, I hope they do.

I'm looking forward to the next issue.

You're doing better than I am. I got a 2-year subscription two years ago, and I only received 3 or 4 issues in total. I haven't received the November issue, but I got a renewal notice a few months ago, so I'm not even sure if I'll get it.

The subscription was a total waste of money for me. And in Canada, it wasn't cheap.

I received the November issue in mid December, prior to that was the MAY issue on 6/16. Every issue was about a month behind, and what was promised to be a monthly mag was becoming every other or every third or forth month. I cancelled my subscription and will check the book store if I feel the need. It's mostly ads anyway and I can get as much info here on the forum...

Good luck with that one!
