I picked one up online from circuit city----total came to 720.00 w/o tax...! Delivery for free...circuit city had a 20% giftcard back with purchase on wednesday. --so the tv was 899 and I get a 180.00 gift card. I am new to hdtv--is there a inexpensive calibration disc for this set or can I set it myself and achieve a similar result?

i use my star wars trilogy dvds as a calibrator. they have a thx optimize thingy, it's a lil off to the right bottom section of the menu. i didn't notice it for awhile, but it has some really cool stuff in it and full explanations on how to use each set of tools! note, if you use it, use the next chapter (skip) button to go through the sets.

I got the 32HS420 at BB for $868, out the door, after I made them match Amazon. CC refused to match online dealers.

I made the following adjustments:

Color- neutral
VM-Off
Mode-Pro
CE-Off

Turn down Picture
Turn down Sharpness
Turn up Brightness
Leave Color & Hue alone.

The DVD & HD is terrific and the SD is Excellent.
I used the Avia and made very little adjustments.

Just out of curiosity... anyone have any ideas if Sears matches prices with online retailers? Also, rickanna... did they try to argue with you or give the price that you saw it for, on the internet, immediately or with some consideration? How'd it go?

Where did you find the 20% off link? The usual places I frequent didn't mention it.

Just got it from CC for $799.98 (priced matched to jandr) after my 3 year old samsung 3294hf HD dies today ($500 to fix).

Went into JandR today and they will beat the CC price by a little.

CC refused to match any online retailers.
BB on two ocassions in the last six months matched Amazon without hesitation. Even adjusted the sales tax to match my best price.

Funny, the BB by me(Totowa/Little Falls NJ) is the absolute most miserable place to buy anything from. the CC which is 3mn down the road is such a pleasent place to deal with. BB has NEVER honored their price match policy on anything I ever tried.
CC has never denied me a price match.

Circuit City stores apparently can run hot and cold. When i went in to buy a $400 Panny HT Reciever, the first store i went to would not match Fry's price - the salesman and also his manager said it was too low (a hundred bucks cheaper than CC's price). They let me walk away knowing i was going straight back to Fry's to buy it. But i went straight to another CC in the next town instead and the salesman there cheerfully called Fry's to verify the price, then matched it and then gave me another 10% off and thanked me for the order.

Night and day difference in attitude between two CC stores that are only 8 miles apart.

Wow... it just proves how so full of **** some people are. They let customers walk away without even realizing that it is a few hundred dollar purchase. I'm lucky I've never had to deal with this crap because most of my purchases were made through online retailers from pricegrabber.com. Other than that, the only thing I can say are PCs, which we got directly from the manufacturer. But another question arises... do they factor shipping or tax or pickup? The TV I found goes for 770 at a store in NY and NY has 4% sales tax... if I kinda convince CC or BB that I might just pick it up from their store, would they be convinced enough or will they really make a big deal out of it and check to see if I can pick it up or not? Or would they go even more gestapo and factor shipping in? Thanks for the help in advance.

Rick, in another thread you wrote:

"Help!

I have a Sony 32HS420 and the picture looks like s**t."

did you resolve your problems with your picture? Just curious because I plan on purchasing this TV in the near future and am wondering if i will encounter similar problems tweaking my TV.

at my sears, we do match legit online retailers most of the time. it is hot or cold though. also, there was recently a company memo on tightening our losses on price matching. it also depends on your salesperson, as we are on comission and CC and BB are not. so, we have more incentive to get something done.
