I preordered Lost In Translation & Love Actually from DVD Empire. The first time the titles got delayed, I got notified. Well, I haven't recieved a shipping delay or a shipping notice. Anybody recieve any notification of any kind...? Or, has Empire or anybody else shipped any of the supposed new titles?

Rachael, I believe they are just delayed and not canceled. I do believe the next releases will be the last will we ever see. This is only my opinion as I have no inside information.

Well, no affirmatives on shipping or even notices. Maybe next week after the Santa time rampage is over, the various vendors will give us the word? Ho, ho, ho, mary K'withmass!

I don't know about you guy's, but I am very disappointed with this delay.

Tom,

Me too. It is beginning to look like the D-Theater train is coming to the end of the line. There hasn't been a peep out of Fox or Dreamworks for months, Artisan is done. Universal might well be the last man standing, and they don't seem to be in much of a rush.

It would have been nice for these movies to ship in time for Christmas.

MCA has shipped the December 14th releases and they've been received at the distributors warehouses as of today.
My distributer, Ingram has informed me they will ship on Tuesday Dec 28th, and I, (and probably DVD empire and others) will receive and ship on Thurs. Dec 30th.
I hate to plug other retailers, but it's not their/my fault. We should probably expect a week delay on older titles at holiday time.
There was no excuse for day and date (Day after Tomorrow)
delays however

Magnifico, IMO. I've watched it 3 times. The colour is not as saturated and bright as some films, maybe the blood is;)! All in all, it seems rather flawless to me. I learned some new words in Latin and Air-auh-may-ic 2. Murry Kristomass!

Those centurions definitely were Klingons who shaved. I don't think it's a coincidence that they never dare take their helmets off. I knew my theory was right when I heard one of 'em say, "whakka whakka chu chaka khan, idiota."

Did you notice that the Pharisees were all Vulcans?

I'll pay $50 each plus shipping for Love Actually and 21 Grams. If they are supplied by the same person I'll pay $110 plus shipping. They must be sealed copies. My email is thomascls@email.msn.com

Thanks,

Thanks.

Can their # of copies in stock be trusted? I ordered from bestprices.com last week and their site showed the # of copies in stock and I placed an order. I then received an email saying they were backordered. The # of copies are only updated every few hours so they can't be trusted.

Thanks,
Tom

Captain posts here, and has always been helpful to me. Not sure how accurate the stock numbers are or are not.

I called a few days ago when they showed stock and the lady more or less said the on hand could be what they received versus what was available. So by the time they took backorders out of the total (some of them) there could still be remaining backorders. I found it interesting when she said one of the titles had (only) 13 pre-orders.

I see all these guys here orfdering up this chick flick and wonder if I'm missing anything:D?? I tend to lean on Ebert a lot and he gave it 3 1/2 stars.

Per Ebert... "The movie is written and directed by Richard Curtis, the same man who wrote three landmarks in recent romantic comedy: "Four Weddings and a Funeral," "Notting Hill" and "Bridget Jones's Diary." His screenplay for "Love Actually" is bursting enough material for the next three. The movie's only flaw is also a virtue: It's jammed with characters, stories, warmth and laughs, until at times Curtis seems to be working from a checklist of obligatory movie love situations and doesn't want to leave anything out. At 129 minutes, it feels a little like a gourmet meal that turns into a hot-dog eating contest."

I really enjoyed it and I just ordered it from Captain Video. DVD Empire seems to have left me high and dry.

I've never had a backorder when I ordered an item that was listed "in stock".

Thanks for the nice comments..
All the numbers on captainvideo.net are accurate, and even understated, as we usually hold a few back for international orders, which can't be processed through our site.
All orders and pre-orders have already shipped

I placed an order today fom Capain Video. Both were in stock and have already shipped. I can't recommend them enough.

That's just too funny.

Good movies are sometimes where you find them Jeff. But you have to willing to look for them. Personally, I don't necessarily consider romantic comedies to be "chick flicks," though I do understand why you would come to view them in that light.

I'd hate to think that I denied myself the pleasure of watching some great films like Annie Hall (showing on HDNet Movies this month) out of some overblown concern that doing so might make some think of me as a "girly man." :)

You might want to read member reviews at IMDB to get some idea as to whether or not this film will appeal to your interests. Alternatively you can rent the DVD and then decide if you want to own it in the D-Theater format, assuming there are any copies left by that time.

There are other films of this ilk that I particularly enjoyed in the D-Theater format such as About a Boy and Notting Hill.

If you haven't seen it already Intolerable Cruelty is a hoot, though not available in D-Theater (it was shown in HD on HBO last September).

Well, I was ashamed of myself at first. Watched Love Actually in HD on HBO & recorded it & really enjoyed it. I thought the video quality was very good & that frigging song stayed in my head for days!!

They are called a "chick flicks" for a reason. That being that women will go in groups to go see it with their friends or drag their male soul mate "kicking an screaming in my case" to go see them. Some of them are enjoyable with good acting and story that a man can sit though. But their intended audience are females, hence the term.................."chick flicks

This weekend is my wife turn pick the movie. The pain........The pain :p

I know how the term is used in the vernacular. I was saying that I don't necessarily agree with the usage as it has been commonly applied, mostly by men, to romantic comedies.
