View Full Version : Professionals to correct geometry problem

I have a Sony KD34XBR2 that I really enjoy. Unfortunately, it has developed a problem that is driving me crazy. On about the bottom 1/5th of the screen, straight horizontal lines do not appear straight. They resemble an upside down smile on a smiley (a frownie?).

It's not as extreme as a smiley, but it is noticeable to me and it really irritates me. (At least my wife hasn't noticed it. That would be all that I would need.)

There are no geometry adjustments on user-accessible screens and I'm not sure I would trust myself to mess with them if there were.

1. I am still under an extended warranty. Do these warranties normally cover this type of problem? Is it worth it?

2. What can I expect to pay a professional to fix the geometry?

3. While he/she is at it, how much should I expect pay for a complete calibration?

4. How can I find a good professional?

5. Has anyone had a good experience with professionals in the Los Angeles area? [If this is inappropriate on this board, please PM me.]

Thanks,

Burt

Burt,

I have included a link which lists ISF trained reps, you can search by area to find someone near you. Some are good and some are not so good, you might try going to the local HDTV and Reception area on AVSForums and go to the local LA thread, I am sure someone there can reccomend a local rep for you. Expect to pay in teh are of $250 to have your set calibrated to your liking.
