This may have been touched on before but I'm not able to find anything in my searches. I have a built in wall unit that has been around since I purchaed the house. I'm about to rip it out and replace the unit with a stand in another part of the room. One problem is that the house is completely wired and ends up in this location. I am going to rip down the sheetrock and move the wires as close to the corner of the room as possible. A number of the wires can be replaced as I will have access to the back wall of the other rooms and ceiling once the sheetrock is torn down. There is only one set of speakers where I won't be able to replace the wire since it snakes throughout the basement ceiling and back up the walls on the other side of the house.
My question is, if I'm not able to replace the wire, can I connect additional speaker wire to the existing wire and then run it through to the entertainment unit. If so, what is the best connector to use in this situation within the wall. I'm not a huge audiophile so I don't need the best of the best but wanted to get everyones thoughts.
thanks
