AVR-7300 Second Zone

Hello all:

I have recently installed an AVR-7300 at a client's home theater and for the life of me I can't figure out how to get the zone 2 remote to actually operate the zone 2 controls.

I understand from the manual that if I point this remote to the receiver, it will operate it as normal, but if the signal is received through the multi-room input (IR receiver?) it will then operate zone2.

Question is:

How can I relay the zone 2 IR from another room?

I used a Radio Shack IR sender to relay the signal and used the output from the back of the RS receiver directly into the multi-room input on the receiver with no luck.

Any suggestions?

Do I need to set something I missed?
