Is there any way to display 480p on a 768 line lcd tv as a 1:1 pixel mapped image (A 480 pixel tall picture centered in the middle of the screen.)? I know that you need dvi for true 1:1 pixel mapping so I'm just looking for the equivalent of what I would get on a native resolution edtv. Purchasing an edtv lcd isn't an option because they don't have the fast response times I need for video games. My source would be an xbox with component cables. I would prefer to avoid using my computer as a video processor but I'm willing to do so if it's faster (lag would be an issue with video games) or cheaper than a stand alone processor. Thanks.

You want to display the image with out scaling? Why? The new Lumagen units can do this, but how I dont know. You can also use RGB and Component out as well.

I've seen console games (480i upscaled) on lcd hdtvs and they look terrible (The distortion was caused by scaling rather than motion blur and could be seen even when there was no movement on the screen). I prefer a small accurate picture to a large one with scaling artifacts.
btw I'm not interested in deinterlacing or any other type of video processing. Just the easiest way to avoid scaling artifacts.

 What scaling equipment produced these artifacts? Something does not compute.

The tv's internal scaler. It was just a matter of non-native resolution.

Does your TV offer 1:1 or Real mode in the user controls? You need to by-pass the internal scaler but some displays don't have this feature.

I haven't purchased an lcd yet. EDTVs aren't an option because of their high response times.
