Is this configuration compatible? I've read rumblings in the search engine that it's not. If not, I guess some form of macrovision disabling is required, anyone know how to accomplish this inexpensively??? Is anyone using d-vhs via component into a Barco with component in?

Thanks,

Ben

701s and 708. Tried with success. The Cine-series of course.

Otherwise on the 808s, 1208s and 1209s you need the tri-level-sync board.

On projectors from 801s on upwards without component in, you can install an optional HDTV tri-level input-board. Of course this cant be seen as inexpensively I quess.

PJ, 801s too? It says here (http://www.crtprojectors.co.uk/barco_faq.htm) no.

Correct the 801s projector is the ONLY S Barco that does not include component in. It is quite a bit older than the other "S" model Barcos and should not be confused with them.

This is interesting... I think Paul (GN2) had tried his D-vhs into a 701s and experienced what seemed like Macrovision problems.

Are there any limitations to the component inputs or should there be no issues with HD and or DVD??

On the 701s there is input selection for both component(standard video) and HD component with tri-level-sync.

The standard component input is designed for standard video only. You can get it to work with progessive also, but it isnt designed for it.

I have never experienced problems with the HD input.

Is this any vintage of the 701s or the "cine" vintage??

When you say Macrovision problems, what exactly are the symptoms?

If you are experiencing playback problems using omponents inputs, there is a possible solution for this.

If you are interested, E-Mail me and I can suggest a solution. I don't want to post any website here that could provoke a warning.

I have a 701s and I am using it with a CS-HD Focus Enhancemts processor and I have it set to component w/ tri level sync. NO issues at all with macrovison. I am upconverting composite video to 1080i and it looks fantastic on the 701s. The 701s will not take 720p or 1080p in these inputs so thats the only limittations I see but I dont care.

I would say that a D-VHS would work just fine as a means of upconversion to 1080i as its cheeper that way then to buy a scaler.

Vic,

thanks for the reply, but it still doesn't clear this issue up for me. The reason I bring this up again is that I've seen a UK website that advertises some sort of upgrade board for a 701s which allows for d-vhs.....why would this be if it works fine currently??

Thanks,

Ben

Actually, that is my mistake. The ad says add on board for all S series projectors....then on another page they not that the 701/708s projectors already have this board...
