I have my components housed in a cabinet with glass front doors. Unforatunately my TimeWarner HD Cable Box (a Pioneer model) generates an amazing amount of heat. And because I have it connected to Tivo it's turned on 24/7.
I drilled some ventilation holes in the back of the unit and even installed a small cooling fan from Radio Shack. This works okay but the problem is that the cooling fan is ridiculously loud. Any ideas on how to effectively vent the heat without generating a lot of extra noise. I'm sure that professional home theater installers have figured out a solution and am hoping there's a quasi-easy, somewhat inexpensive fix.
