Replace NAD 316 with Marantz 5500/7400

I'm looking to replace my aging NAD AV 316. I love the great sound but it's missing all the bells and whistles of the latest units.

After looking around and reading these forums I've narrowed it down to one of the Marantz products. I was going to get the 7400 which is a bit more then I wanted to spend but has all the features that I want.

Then I saw all the post on the 5500. Seems to offer almost everything that the 7400 has. Ok it has less rear connections but I'm only connecting a DVD player, a CD player, and my digital cable box. It also has less power but I think 90 watts will be fine for my application. Is there a way to determine this BTW?

I will be using B&W DM302 speakers for the front and back and a lower end B&W for the center (Don't remember the model). Plan to get a subwoofers later. What would be a good match for the above speakers?

Ok now the 1000 question. Is the 5500 available in Canada? I don't see it on the Canadian website.

What I'm I loosing by not going with the 7400?

How much Canadian can I expect to pay for either unit?

The 7400 has a better remote, zone two support with power, and more power and probably a slightly better sound. The 5500 has one or two features that the 7400 does not, like tbc.

Unless you think you need to have the "Newest model", I would take the 7400
