I just bought a sony 1272 projector and now looking on the options of the diy screen. My room will be completely dark. I would like to know what fabric you used as well as any paint. It would be good if the people that tried many different screens with this projector to give me their impressions of each...

Nice projector!

I would start off with a plain sheet of white gatorfoam and enjoy the picture for about 30 seconds and then mix up some mud and apply 3 even coats and sit back and enjoy picture. I have used a 1292q on this material and it looks fantastic.

Good luck

gearhead,
How big do you want your screen to be? If it will be 48" x 96", you can go with a sheet of the Parkland plastic. If you want a fabric, use the blackout material, either way read the DIY Screen FAQ/Reference at the top of this forum. Plenty of details to get you started on your journey.

By the way, I used the blacout material for my 1272Q and then painted it with one of the Behr paint mixtures. One of these days I will finally spray on the Goo paint that I bought but never used.

yea i read the diy faq and have gotten lots of good info. Just figured i would make a post requesting the screen for the 1272, as i would figure people with this projector would reply and give me info on what they are using just like you both just did..
