Virtual Surround HTIB Questions

Anybody here have much experience with psuedo-5.1 HTIB systems? Could find much here so far but I found these 2 in my price range from Pioneer & Samsung. Is it possible to build my own, what components do I need? I'm a audio newbie so any help would be grateful :)

I heard the Samsung at the CES show a year ago. They do not work.

Why do you want a Psuedo system? If you have wiring problems, get a wireless system instead. I have a Kenwood 3100 system that works well, Samsung and I think Pioneer also has one, cant remember the numbers.
