A friend of mine would like to be able to record various analog clips while on the road with his Power Book. He needs some kind of converter that will take composite/s-video + audio and be able to pipe this into this Power Book's Firewire input.
I'm not a Mac guy and the last time I did this I used a Sony DMAC-DA1. I kind of think the technology has improved by now. (Smaller battery powered, etc).
Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance.

I saw the Canopus ADVC110 at the Apple Store in King of Prussia today. It was packed. Anyway, you can find it at the online store as well for the specs.

Miglia's Director Cut looks pretty nice

Firewire powered, no wall wart, Mac and PC, about $270
I still have the DMAC-DA1, and tested it against the Canopus, there is no significant difference. But Sony got our of the converter biz. There are a few other sub-$300 converters out there, but I'd go for the Miglia. We do a lot of conversion, and I still use the Sony.
