Online Purchase of Sony KDE42XBR950

I live on Maui and want to purchase a Sony KDE42XBR Plasma. Does anyone have a definitive explanation as to why prices vary so much from MSRP of $7,999? I have been researching, but can't seem to find a coherent discussion of the pros and cons of online retailers vs. brick and mortar. I have to have this particular TV shipped here no matter where I purchase it from. Any experiences with "DTVCity" in Atlanta?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I am so skeptical of online "resellers." It is ripe for fraud and abuse, but it appears many others have made similar purchases without any problems.

For peace of mind use your credit card. You can always dispute the charge with them if you run into problems and I don't make purchases on the internet any other way.

BTW, the forum sponsors have a very good reputation on this board. Is everything perfect? No, but from what I have read I would not have a problem dealing with them. Good luck.
