Hello,
I just gotta laugh. From my years having moderated the AVS Special Guests forum here, before I burned out, I made a lot of industry contacts, and I keep in touch with many of them from time to time. Here's a great
e-mail I just received from one of my friends who manufactures tube amplifiers. And these amps are in the price range covered in this forum.
I'm sure other retailers can chime in with unfortunately some similar stories.
"God can take me now, because I think I've heard it all.
Right before dinner tonight a potential New York customer called and asked me 1 million questions about our model #XXXX amp. He wanted to know what tubes it used and what brand they were. He wanted the brand name of every part in the amp including the resistors, capacitors, and switches. He wanted to know how it sounded compared to every other brand on the market. He went on and on for 20 minutes. I thought he was ready to buy when he went crazy on me.
He went on for another 10 minutes about the text font and text color of the hyperlinks on our website. He said he couldn't take the amp seriously because the purple text just wasn't dark enough purple. He said the text needed to be darker to appeal to our mostly male clientele. That's it. I've heard it all now. Power amp's performance effected by text color on website.
Where do these ****ers come from?
We need to find the mother ship and spray the nest."
