Just wondering if anyone was having problems flashing they're 2910/3910 with the latest firmware. I've performed firmware updates a thousand times but for some reason I keep getting the previous "ESS" (-5) and "Make-Day". Instead of ESS-6720-7 and Make Day of 114 as dictated for the 2910 on the attached PDF file....

1. Burned to disk (Nero)
2. Flashed- writing - complete - power off- remove disk - power on
3. Checked build/firmware version
4. Initialized
5. Still same old firmware version !!!!!!????

Hmmmmmmm ???

Regards,
Steve

I had no problem with my 3910, version 8. I'd recommend emailing Denon, telling them that you were not able to successfully download version 7, and ask them to mail it to you. It's possible that they mistakenly posted the old firmware on their web site.

I did not have any issues, however what I noticed is that Denon names the file the EXACT same thing... so if you recently download the -5 firmware and saved it to your desktop... then you just now downloaded it again, but maybe didn't verify where you saved it... but you thought you saved it to your desktop... you could still be going with the old firmware file... I noticed this and almost made this mistake... so when I was saving the file I renamed it and added a 7 at the end of the file name. that way I made sure I was unpacking the correct file.

Most likely this is your issue.

Also... I had to do the check firmware eboot and reinitialized twice on the unit by doing the button combinations on the player and remote in order for it to successfully complete the firmware... the first time it said it took, but my settings would not save... the second initilization everything worked fine.
