I'm just beginning research on HDTVs and it's incredibly more complicated than I thought it would be. You guys are on another planet as far as tech, electrical, video, audio, hardware, installation options, etc.....I can't believe how many of you know so much  Most of the talk is at "level 37" when I'm at "level 1" :(

Is there someplace with just basic HDTV 101 FAQ for questions and answers so us newbies don't clutter up the board and actually learn sumpin'?

EDIT: Ok, I found the FAQ! :p

I am not a fan of Newby areas and stuff. Every place that I know that has added "knowledge" levels have always gone down hill. The problem is that none of the experienced people feel like hanging out in the newby forum and so they just dry out because no one is there to answer the questions. The best thing to do is
a) search first
b) ask if you still don't understand

and people will gladly help

QQQ....it's guys like you that made me have 7 Qs in my screenname:rolleyes: . I'm 48 yrs. old, I should've had the original "QMan":D

Anthony....somewhat true, true....but problem here is most of the time search yields threads basically written in Latin as far as I'm concerned, lol. I'll keep at it, I guess it'll sink in gradually :p

I can understand that, we were all new at some time :) don't forget there is also the glossary http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/glossary.php?&ltr=A if you don't understand the term.

The reason I mentioned search first is that it sometimes gets tiring repeating the same thing over and over again. You don't know how many times I have seen a question when 5 posts down someone answered it already, I think that is why even the most well meaning of person eventually drops the newby forums.
