Hi I'm new to the HDPC scene... I'm thinking about building myself a pretty highend system..
Before i was thinking about buying an DVD player with upconverting to 1080i, but from what i've read i can achieve the same thing with a pc connected via DVI cable.. correct?
I already have an ATI Radeon 9600 , and I'm thinking about getting the ATI Wonder HDTV, any complaints about this combo? I see of people talk about myHD, better hardware? The reason i was thinking about the ATI HDTV Card is because i have no complaints with ATI.. and it seems these two cards will work flawlessly together.
Another question i have is regarding the DVD playback.. I use WinDVD.. but when i play Dvd's through windvd with the SPDIF connection connected from my SoundBlaster LIVE! 5.1 to my Harman Kardon AVR525 receiver, my receiver only shows the signal as Dolby 2.0(stereo) .. This means my soundcard is resampling the sound and degrading it for me, is there a way i can get the audio signal out to my receiver untouched?
I will be eventually upgrading to an Audigy 7.1 card, will i get the same problem with this card?
And yes the WinDVD is a full version capable of playing back Dolby 7.1
All will be hooked up to my Toshiba Cinema Series 51" Rear Projection via DVI Cable. Any precautions i should before hooking this up to my T.V., am i going to ruin anything?
Any help is appreciated..
