Hello folks!
This is my first post and I would like to thank whoever entered here to see what this thread is about.
For this ppl a warm hug from ppl in brazil!
Ok, here is my question.
I have a toshiba 4036 player + kenwood VR8070-S receiver + SONY SAVE-566 (7.1) speakers (i know this is not a big thing for u masters of home theater, but is what i can have around here!)

I heard good things about my receiver and bad things too, the interesting stuff is most bad things about my receiver is complains about the crapy manual that comes with the receiver.

Post this, when I play Star wars 1 wich has the Dolby Digital EX 5.1 audio option to play, my receiver do not "find" this option in the "listening"

Look what i am doing

1-choose 'dolby digital ex 5.1 audio" on my sw1 dvd
2-wait the movie start playback (after the fox logo and stuff)
3-start change the listening modes and I see all they LESS the "DOLBY D EX"!(i find the STEREO, DOLBY DIGITAL, PRO LOGIC II, PRO LOGIC IIx [and all the "dsp ones (game, cinema, bla bla)])

By the manual, this option should be "chooseable" but it is not.

Can anyone here tell me if they have problems like this wiht dvds with the dolby digital ex 5.1 too?

PS: My dvd sends the digital optical signal to the receiver and sorry about my crapy english!

Hmmm,
I have a 7060 (last year's model).

I have not watched episode 1 - but I have DD EX set no problem - on the 7060 you can force (set) it on any dolby digital stream - even if only 5.1 - and it force re-mixes the side 2 channels into 2 sides and a back.

Simple question. Do you have the dvd player setup to correctly output the digital bitstream to your receiver? In the setup menu for the dvd player(not the setup menu for that particular movie), the digital output needs to be turned on, and set for raw or bitstream. DO you have your dvd player connected to your receiver by a digital connection(either coax or optical)?

Yes i do
It is connected by the digital optical connection
But i dont know if my dvd's output is set to send the dolby d ex signal to the receiver and it is something I really dont know how to do
Some help here would be good
I have a toshiba 4036
Ty anyway :)

PS:Just checked my dvd settings and discovered an option where I can pick a audio digital signal

The option are:

1-DOLBY DIGITAL/PCM (This one is checked)
2-STREAM/PCM
2-PCM

And there is a frequency too

1-48kHz(This one is checked)
2-96kHz

Do I need change something on it?

try changing to stream/pcm, the second option you listed above. you can always change it back.

I heard about this in a recent review in Sound&Vision. If I recall correctly
they recommend that you keep the receiver's setting in the standard DD mode.
