I was watching the NCAA b'ball games yesterday in HD over "off air" and I saw that the audio feed was surround sound so I thought I'd listen to the game in surround sound.

I have a Dish 811 receiver hooked up to the media receiver thru input 1 and have the OTA antenna into the coax DTV input so I can pick up local HD. I also have an optical cable hooked up between the digital audio output from the media receiver to the digital audio input on my receiver.

I had the pdp-5040 input to "DTV" using the "off air" channel so I could watch the game in HD. Altho I was listening to the game over the pdp-5040 speakers, the audio on my receiver was picking up ESPN-HD from Dish. (I had been watching ESPN on Dish before changing to DTV). Why did I not get an audio signal from the NCAA game that I was watching? I suspect there is some adjustment I can make to change the audio input to what I am watching but I can't seem to find it.

I probably have not made myself totally clear as to how I have the components hooked up but I hope someone can help.

OK, I know I wasn't very clear - this is my problem with my Pio 5040 and Dish 811. I want to get the surround audio on my receiver from the OTA CBS HD NCAA game. I have the antenna plugged into the DTV antenna in. What I get is not that audio but the audio from INPUT 1. Keep in mind I'm watching the OTA feed. Why am I getting the sound from INPUT 1?

similar with my DTV rcvr. Simply take the digital audio out to your main A/V rcvr and switch to that input, audio wise on the A/V rcvr. Also on other thing you need to do: In the MENU, need to select the TYPE of output desired. There's two; one is PCM and the other is Dolby Digital.

If you want to review, check you Owner Manual, pg 69. How's that for info? You know what they say . . when all else fails, read the manual!
