Great new forum Alan!

Glad to see the many questions (from me!) and others brought to one. this is certainly an exciting subject that is garnering more interest.

but I do think we 2.35 screen owners are a tiny minority currently. The dealer I bought my silverstar from in march said I was the 1st 2.35 screen purchase from him in 1 year... last was a 2.35 firehawk. (the dealer does a fair amount of business).

I've got my 2.35 screen, my H1000 lens, and am setting up my HTPC to be used to stretch appropriate content for 2.35 viewing!

I second that notion. I decided I wanted an anamorphic screen and trying to find info was bouncing me all over the forums. Having everything in one place is great!

Yep, great place to waste more time.

Thanks Alan.

Now I know where to gather some 'homies' when I'm out there sparring with those who believe that 2.35 is a dead end format and will whither away under the onslaught of 16:9.

Onward,
ted

It's true, but more would opt for 235 primary viewing if it wasn't such an unknown. By placing all the good help and info in one section, I safely predict a boom in 235 home theaters soon. Not enough to become a majority, but certainly a community.

If it weren't for stumbling across Vern Dias homepage one day, I'd have never considered 235. But after reading his views and checking out his pics, I started to understand why 235 is actually a good idea and I then searched for more info and eventually got into it myself.

Also, this forum may serve for those who want any non-standard screen size larger than 1.78:1. Like a 2.05 or a 2.40.

Agreed !

Thanks Alan . I know you and I talked about this just before the Prismasonic Power Buy (I did get the H-500 thank you) and I'm very glad you decided to run with it .

As we all know , AVS is a leader in HT advancements , and I'm sure that with the specific exposure from this Forum , 2.35:1 will grow and generate much more manufacturer exposure than is currently available .

Question , is it possible to create a "sticky" of 2.35:1 Products ? I.E. DVD players and PJ's that do the Vertical Stretch and/or HTPC hardware/software as well. This would go a long way in helping first-timers explore CinemaScope !

What better way to make my 900th post than saying Hi to you. So you finally decided did you? Congratulations.

So what will you part with first, PJ or lens? ;)

BTW I entirely support your idea about a sticky with that info - You going to lead the pack? ;)

Hey Ted ,

Good Lord...900 posts ! I think you actually had less than me when we first met and then...Whoosh ! 900 ! I guess it really helps when you have something to contribute (which I plan on doing once everything is in place) .

I've gone with the Infocus SP5000 (which is a little delayed in arriving) , a Samsung HD-841 DVD player (to do the vertical stretch) , the Prismasonic H-500 Anamorphic Lens (just couldn't justify the H-1000 right now) and am building my 2.35:1 screen using painter's canvas and MMud paint formula (which I've used on drywall with a good result) .

I am soooooo glad that Alan decided to try this Forum Topic . I have great hope for it and the interest it will generate .

Oh yeah , I also got the Smart III v2 as well . Great minds think alike eh ?

Cheers ,

Scott..................:D

I'm so pumped up for this new forum. I've been off several weeks of regular reading due to surgery and now I've found a whole bunch of folks who really love movies! I'm building my first 2.35 theater and it's not been easy. This is a GREAT idea- THANKS ALAN!

It is amazing how much activity there is in this forum. I think while it is really pretty small, it will grow quickly and have a lot of good discussion that would get lost anywhere else.
