I've been in the need lately for an LCD or plasma TV for my room and was wondering what would be some good brands to look at when it comes to plasma and LCD. I was looking into between 30inch LCD/Plasma to 42in(max) LCD/plasma screens for under 2K. I have the couch about 5ft from the wall with the "viewer's eye" at about 6ft so I'm not sure if 42inch plasma/lcd would be too big and I should go with a smaller screen or not.
Another question, I have the computer desk right behind the couch and from where the person sits at the computer desk, it's about 12ft from the wall and I was wondering if a 30-40" plasma/LCD would look alright from this far away or not (plans to play computer games/console games on this thing).
Keep in mind that the size of the screen should be comfortable from sitting at the couch is top priority, with looking at the screen from computer desk a 2nd priority.
Thanks.

you may have to look for Plasma EDTVs.. 42"s should fit in that price range.

not recommended.
you need to set the desk closer to the TV. Setting it behind the couch is just too far to read texts on PC format display. you should set the desk to the side facing closer to the tv and leave the couch at far distance. setting the desk behind the couch is no no...... your eye balls gonna go bad because you will end up straining your eyes hard.
LCD TV's will likely be more than just 2k at 42". Plasma EDTV would be an idea.

Well can anybody here recommend me a DLP Rear projection TV? Or is it simply not a good idea what so ever. I'm going to be buying some furniture to house my A/V equipment and if I were to get an LCD/plasma, I would get a rack but if I get a DLP TV then I would get a TV stand.

Well as I was searching online, I stumbled across this little gem. It's an LCD TV with 720P and 1080i resolution: http://reviews-zdnet.com.com/Panasonic_TC_32LX50___LCD_TV___TFT___32_/4505-6482_16-31324701.html

That's a great size for your viewing distance, IMO 6 feet is too close for an ED plasma. If you got a 27" LCD I really think you'll want more. A 37" would be good for movies, but may be overpowering for simple sitcoms and other shows. I'd suggest checking out sets at a local store from different distances to see what's good for you.
