View Full Version : Directv D10 workaround

I have four or five local channel shows a week that I need to record and I thought I was out of luck with the D10 channel changing problem. My workaround is to program all my regularly recorded shows using the D10 Autotune feature in addition to the ReplayTV recording. Autotune programs the satellite to automatically change channels at a scheduled time. If you are unfamilar with this, it can be found (if my memory is correct) through the remote menu button then select Settings/Scheduler then enter the correct time, channel and duration. This way the satellite channels get changed by the satellite box and replaytv will still record the show.
Can't you just select a future airing show in the D10 AGP and select that, from there isn't the schedule an option?

By selecting guide you can scroll to the program and start time by pressing select on the desired channel.
You can also program your receiver for weekly programs in the menu under scheduling
good luck......................deniz

This is a great idea, one that I tried last night! Turns out that AutoTune doesn't disable the new screensaver, so despite AutoTuning to the right channel, and hearing the correct audio, I got nothing but screensaver for video.

Jeff D - never tried that way. That is nice, especially if it allows you to set it up for weekly recordings like it does in settings using the 'Repeatedly' option.
Shoveler - I was worried about that too. I set the Replaytv up to record manually for one minute every night on a channel abover 100 (use CNN) and and only keep the one recording so they do not accumulate. I have not been gone more that 24 hours to test this but I thought maybe that would work.

That's worth trying, sweetie (this sucks -- I can't call you by name without feeling condescending!), and I'll check it out, but I'm starting to get the feeling that the braintrust that designed this screensaver decided that the only input worthy of cancelling it was IR activity from the remote control, thus indicating a human presence. That's based on limited observation, and I hope I'm wrong. sweetie. :)
