View Full Version : Onkyo SP1000 Problems Playing Dual Disc Format
I have the new Nine Inch Nails album in Dual Disc format but my Onkyo will not read the cd side. Also, the DVD-A side works but sounds awful using iLink or Digital Coax.
Anyone have experience with Dual Disc on an Onkyo SP1000?
You must have missed the disclaimer on the package :
" cd side does not conform to cd standards and may not play on some cd or dvd players"
Regarding the dvd side, is it true dvd audio or 5.1 surround or enhanced stereo? I was looking at some DD titles today and was surprised just how many were enhanced stereo on the dvd side!! What a crock.

Cd side on my SP1000 plays fine.
You are supposed to use analog connection for the dvd-a side unless there is a DTS version...can't remember now.

i.Link should work for any format on the DVD-A side. Coax would be just DD, DTS and maybe some lo-rez PCM. What's on the other end of the i.Link connection? And what are the formats on the DVD-A side?

Package and instructions give warnings about Dual Discs and compatibility issues clear as day. Tread carefully. YMMV.

Oh, yeah forgot about that since I don't use it.

So it plays fine on yours???? Mine will try to read the disc a few times and then gives me an error.
As far as the DVD-A side, it just sounds muddy and lacks treble.
Whenever there is a choice of either the much hated dually disc or an sa-cd copy....choose the sa-cd imo ;)

Yep, NIN DS plays without a hitch on the cd side of the DualD.
