View Full Version : Good idea to place an order for the Warrantech Warranty before I actually get the tv?
Hey Guys I'm still waiting for a online store to get a batch of the Panasonic 42px50u plasma tvs. I was also looking to get a 4 year warrantech warranty just to be covered. Currently, there is a coupon that would save me about $30 if I buy the warrantech warranty thru ebay...the problem is that I don't know when the online store will get their supply in, they are expecting them on the 17th of July. From what I gather, the warrantech warrany is like a prepaid cell phone plan, the day you register it is the day you are ready to use it. Anyhow, think it is a good idea to buy the warranty first before I get my tv?? Thanks! :)

One possible reason to buy the warranty before hand:
If you buy the warranty online after you buy the TV, it may take a few days for the warranty to ship to you, and you only have 10 days after the TV purchase to activate the warranty.
From the Warrantech web site: "Registrations must be received within 10 days of product purchase to validate this Plan and to ensure coverage."

When they say "product" I believe they mean THEIR product, the warranty.
My understanding is you can register anytime within the first year of your
TV purchase and 10 days of your warranty purchase.

From what i understand is you don't have to buy the Repairmaster warranty until the TV's manufacturer's warranty is 90 days away from expiration. The Repairmaster warranty doesn't kick in until the shortest part of the manufacturer's warranty expires. Call TVAuthority and get it straight from the horse's mouth.
You'll need your display's Serial Number to register the warrantech warranty. Not sure if you can hold onto the warranty "card" until you get the display. I bought the Warrantech warranty through TVA and I didn't get it until like the 10th day after my order was placed. I had no problem registering it on-line. I agree with Randy - call TVA or your on-line store to verify.

I have dealt with Warrantech and a person can actually wait unit just before 90 days is up on the warranty before they purchase a plan. They ask that after a person purchases a plan that they register it within 10 days. The Warrantech warranty is not void if a person waits a little longer. Any one who has any type, brand, size television can buy a Warrantech warranty as long as it has at least 90 days left on warranty and the warranty has parts and labor coverage. This includes refurbished and demo units as long as 90 Days are left on manufacturers warranty for parts and labor. Call them yourself at 1-800-833-8801.

The URL they give on the warranty card is www.myrepairmaster.com.
