I have the Costco Proview 32" LCD set, and I like it a lot, but I am trying to get the best possible picture. I just got in a DVI to HDMI cable to connect my TWC SA 3250HD box to the HDMI input. However the cable send a display message which says my TV doesn't suport HDCP. So I am back to using the component input.

Any ideas about what I can do to get the display to work? My Costco Pio 4312 accepts the same DVI signal through the HDMI input. Thanks in advance.

This set is not on display in my Costco (Dallas/Fort Worth area) yet, but it goes on sale from July 5-10. At this price for a 32" LCD I am extremely interested to see if the picture quality is there or if this is just another cheapo, no-name set with grim black levels and washed out color.

If you -- or anyone else familiar with the ProView 32" -- would care to say more about just how well this set ranks against the best of the 32" LCDs, I would appreciate hearing about it.

Sorry I can't address your question

Ken,
I have had the Proview 32" for about 5 days. I really like it. It is not washed out at all, there is little ghosting, if any. The black levels are pretty good. Not up to my Costco 43" Pioneer 4312 but good for the money. Good, bright HD input material is eye candy. Like moving postcards, bright and clear with good colors and contrast. I am using the component inputs, since the DVI out of my STB is not right for this set. DVD plays back nicely, especially animated like Incredibles. I usually use the "Standard" picture settings.

The things I don't care for is when the stb is set to 1080i and you turn the set off, then on again, the picture is rather dark till I set the input to S-video, then back to components. Seems like a glitch, and it is a nuisance, but minor. In 720p there are some little white dots, each about the size of a pixel, along the top scan line somewhat to the right which are distracting, but the picture stays bright even after turning the set off and on. I put up with the hassles of switching the inputs to get the better picture. There is no PIP or POP.

Now, if only my glasses were better to really appreciate this picture!

Search and learn.

The problem is with the idiotic cable company and its idiotic toy of a cable box.

Search on the cable box model # and you will see.

Tommy, why don't you go ahead and keep trying to confuse people. That's really helpful. Not.

The 3250 is a known disaster in this regard as it gives a completely inaccurate error message. Many, many threads on AVS about it.

What I don't get is why the DVI to HDMI out of one 3250HD box works with my Pioneer 4312 and another box won't work with the Proview. Maybe I'll switch the boxes and see if the one works with the Proview.

I posted some pics of the Proview in HD for the most part from my STB with a few DVD shots, and VGA output at 1024x768. Bear in mind that the color banding and rainbows as well as the Moire effects are due solely to the camera, and are not visible with the eye.
