RPLCD SONY and upscaling?

How come when I upscale using LG511 DVD player, it looks exactly the same in all settings? 480i all the way up to 1080i? I"m using HDMI and yes the tv says it's in 1080i mode or whatever I change it to.

Are you viewing a static image to see the difference? I can see the difference when I upscale between different resolutions. I own a sony xs955.

Since Sony LCDs convert the digital HDMI signal to analog, and then rescale everything to their own unique native resolution, you may lose some of the benefits of an upscaling player.
