View Full Version : Arcam AVR 300 or AVP700/P1000 or Denon 4806?

I'd like to replace my current Denon AVR-5700 shortly.

Just wondering how the Arcam AVR300 compares to the Arcam AVP700 and P1000. Which solution is more "musical"? Even though I may play more DVD's than music, music quality is more important.

Also wondering how they might compare to the Denon AVR-4806? (The room that the new piece(s) would be in is not the best for music.)

Just trying to get my short list down before auditioning . . . and lamenting that the one local Arcam dealer, who also carries my speakers--Joseph Audio RM7si MKII's,--no longer carries Denon.

TIA.

Check the "Saw the AVP700" thread for comparisons between the 300 and 700. Consensus seems to be that the 700 is slightly better than the 300 with an external amp. The 300 alone doesn't have the advantages of separates, but is a great value in comparison. You will generally hear that Arcam is more musical than Denon, but probably shorter on features.
