I was wondering if it would be safe to hook up 6 ohm speakers to an Onkyo TXSR503 reciever. I looked online and in the manual and I couldn't find the lowest number of ohms that the recieve can drive. Thanks

You will be fine.
The Onkyo TX-SR503 includes seven internal power amplifier channels with high-current, low-impedance discrete output devices, to deliver a continuous power output of 75 Watts per channel into 8-Ohm loads.

I used one to power 4 ohm 300 watt JBL tower speakers-3 of them! These had a 8",6", 4" and 1" tweet. The Onkyo powered them effortlessly and sounded great. That is a tough little receiver.

Should be no problem Cnet tested the Aperion Audio's new 633 towers rated at 4 ohms with the 503 without any problems. You can read about the 503 here.
