I get confused
I've been doing a lot of searches for this model and I can't tell.
The wording is
30 Inch Wide DynaFlat™ Digital High Definition TV
is this just a case of wishful thinking or what?
I've been searching for a samsung 26" or 30" TV in the GTA (Toronto, Canada) for a month or more now and I can't find one that has a built in tuner but I keep reading on this forum that they exist.
The alternative is a tx-r3065 which I can get with a stand for less money but it doesn't have a tuner.
Any owners of either set care to give feedback that would be appreciated, thanks.
Steve
edit: both models can be viewed here:

Digital TV High Definition Monitor with 1080i capable display
it is HD ready and not a HDTV
The last link I posted it says:
"30 Inch Wide DynaFlat™ Digital High Definition TV"

ok well it does not list a HD or ATSC tuner and says HD monitor in the specs
So it would usually mention a HD tuner or ATSC tuner in the specs eh?
I haven't seen any TVs with that, bummer. Looks like we have a very limited number of models to choose from here in Canada.

yes it should mention it
but I did another search and at amazon it says it is an HD monitor
apparently it is an older model
the newer models all have HD tuners from samsung
Okay, so between the TX-R3065 and the TX-P3064 I'm guessing the 3065 is better because it's newer? (is it? I read somewhere on here that the TX-R is newer).

I bought a txp3064w about 2 weeks ago. I was lucky to find mine for US$499 on sale. It is a great TV for the price. I'm not sure when you're planning to buy but i'll be getting my HT gear in about 2 weeks and plan to post a review then.
I'm not sure which is newer.
I can actually get the 3065 for less, with a bonus stand!

Wow - where?

The brick .. but now I'm not even sure that this is an HDTV either!!!!
I hate marketting jargon, I hate samsung's website and I hate televisions!
I bought the txr3065 yesterday and I love it.
The salesman told me it replaced the txp-3064. I'll see how it works out over the next few weeks but so far it's amazing.

I don't know much about the txr3065 but the txp3064w is a great set. It's a HDTV monitor so it needs to have an external tuner. I've had mine for 1 month. Floor model, last in store, $440.
I have:
DISH HD STB and an OTA antenna connected via DVI
DISH DVR connected via S-video.
DVD Player connected via component.
HD is excellent -- especially after calibration.
Sound is great. I keep mine on standard but it's various modes are very nice.
480p is excellent.
1080i is excellent with true HD sources. Great will upcoverted material.
Mine had a bit of geometric issues that I was able to fix using DVE and the service menu.
I used Avia and DVE. I prefer Avia's sharpness settings which (for me) were twice the settings for DVE. (Literally 32 for Avia, and 16 for DVE).
I'm extremely happy with my set.
Well, I bought the txr3065 and I'm still not sure if it does 1080i. At both stores that I saw it at (the brick and 2001 audio video) the tag said "480p/1080i" and the salesman said the same thing.
It better be. I even phoned up Samsungs customer care and the guy didn't know!!!
edit: i don't have HD cable or a box, all I have is a progressive scan DVD player and the image quality is amazing. I'm still waiting for delivery of DVE but I can't complain as of yet. Eventually, when I do move up to HD cable I don't want a nasty surprise (that the TV isn't actually an HD set but a ED set, that would be a let down).

I have seen widescreen 480i CRTs but I have never seen an EDTV CRT
do not worry it will display 1080i

I've been thinking the same thing, but I still worry!!! If you saw the web page for this particular TV you would be concerned too! SO VAGUE!

I own a Samsung direct view crt EDTV monitor, the TXN2745FP. I purchased it a few years ago and it is a spectacular tv. There was also a 32 inch model.
It had one display format - 480p. It was gorgeous with both SD and DVDs.
But the best part was an option in the SM to set it to 1080i. At the time I was frequenting the Home Theater SPOT forum. When this "switch" was discovered a whole bunch of us instantly had HD monitors!
As far as I know Samsung no longer makes such a model. And, my model was a 27" 4:3 set, as was the 32" model.
The TXR3065 is clearly HD capable.
Cheers! ;)
No, it's an EDTV!!!!
After many, many emails back and forth with Samsung (they made me use the stupid web form to send them emails every time and copy and paste any previous dialogue it was brutal) they finally told me that it downconverts 1080i to 480p.
Still, for the price I paid I guess I can't complain and DVDs do look truly amazing on it.
I love the TV regardless. Stupid thing is that it says "HDTV" right on the bezel and the salesmen at two locations told me that "it does 1080i", I feel misled but I don't care anymore because I like the TV just fine and don't have HD cable (or cable at all for that matter). DVDs and downloaded TV shows only for the time being ..
on a side note, I think buying an xbox and modding it is among the best money I ever spent. Going on two years now living with what is basically an HTPC and I'm still not tired of streaming TV shows and the like off of my computer.
