Hey all,

I had previously posted about some recievers and thought about getting the Yamaha 5860, but have read more into the pairing of yamaha and my klipsch speakers which are constatnly reffered to as "bright and harsh" and that yamaha recievers are also along these lines which could make for an awful pair.

I have Klipsch SS-1 Surrounds (wide dispersion surrounds) Klipsch SB-1 (Front) Klipsch SC-1 (Center_ and the KSW-12 Subwoofer. Basically what I'm looking for is something sub $1k MSRP, that will compliment these. Preferably with multiple optical audio IN, component in with upconversion to at least 720p. I have heard that Harmon Kardon or Onkyo would be nice pairs, but any thoughts are appreciated. Mostly the reciever is used for Video Games and DVD and some TV (in that order).

I'm also currently looking at buying one of those Buttkickers along with a 55 inch Grand WEGA LCD, so it only makes sense that my reciever should jam as well. Thanks in advance for all the input fellas.

Also look at something from DENON lineup in your price range. Denons are generally considered "not bright" (not meant in a derogatory form). :)

Marantz or Harmon Kardon are considered to be warm and should mate well with your Klipsch speakers.

I'm running a Pioneer 1014 with my klipsch synergy bookshelfs. (SB-2, SB-1, SC-1, and SUB-10) and it sounds good. Music isn't the best, but for movies I love the sound and since you have a bit larger budget than I did for my receiver a Denon, H/K, Marantz, or even a Pio Elite would match up nicely.

Zoid51, I tried a Marantz and Yamaha receiver with Klipsch Synergy speakers (KSB 3.1 fronts, SS-1 rears, I believe KSC-C1 center, and KSW 12 sub). I thought the Marantz sounded pretty good with movies, but was not happy with stereo sound when listening to music. I did not like the Yamaha for movies or music - it is difficult to describe the sound, but I guess overly bright is the best term (actually a harsh, fatiguing sound). I ultimately kept the Marantz and replaced the speakers. I never tried an HK.

Zoid51,
Receivers that are usually in the sub $1,000 range do not have good DACs. Listen, you have good speakers and they are going to need a good receiver to drive them. If you are willing to spend $1,000 take a look at the Yamaha RX-V2500(better than the HTR series and are still available at a lower price than the new RX-V2600) and the Denon AVR-3805(with the release of the 3806 the 3805 is now cheaper).
