I got my 30xs955 last night. So far it's awesome displaying everything I've tried on it (PS2, DVD, Memory Stick). The digital cable signal leaves something to be desired, most definitely. I'll be getting a cable card at the end of the month when I move, but until then I'd like to pick up an antenna so I can get some over-the-air HD signals. Can anyone recommend some good or decent indoor antennas? I am between 6 and 13 miles from the local HD broadcasts if that makes a difference. Thanks for any suggestions!

Thread in the HDTV hardware forum. (http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=546066) Check Antennaweb.org (http://www.antennaweb.org) to see where the stations are and what strength antenna you'll need.

Yeah, I already mapped out where the stations are at antennaweb, but their site does not support mapping for indoor antennas. I'll check out that thread link you included, thanks.
Zenith Silver Sensor available at Sears.

Just took a look at the Zenith. I'm assuming with this one I can't pick up the local ABC, which is in VHF - am I right? The rest of the locals are UHF.
Unless it's very close and channel 10 or higher... you're correct.
You may want to try the Radio Shack 15-1880.

Nothing compares to the Zenith Silver Sensor. I tried the Radio Shack antenna. No comparison.

But if you need VHF also... the SvS may not suffice.
OTOH... combining the SvS with a $5 set of 'rabbit ears' can work.

Agreed with Silver Sensor. Supposedly the antenae that's included with ATI's HDTV wonder is a Silver Sensor clone and I gotta say: That thing is magic.
You might want to check out the Phillips silver sensor PHDTV-3 which goes for ~#35 at wal-mart - it has the silver sensor for UHF and has built-in dipoles for the VHF reception as well. It is also low profile and more aesthetic than earlier ss models.

the Radio Shack 15-1880 and the Zenith Silver Sensor are the best indoor antennas
I have both connected to my Sony KD30XS955, cause I initially bought the Silver Sensor then decided I wanted ABC in HD so I got the Radio shack as well
that is cause the Silver Sensor is VHF only

Wow. After all of my searching for and buying a decent antenna ($25 Phillips from Walmart), I found some VHF/UHF rabbit ears in my closet that pick up the signal better than the "amplified" one I bought. I can pull in 95-98 signal strength on all the locals with this old thing; the one I bought only got me 92 at best. Took the antenna back to Walmart and spent my money on some component cables for the PS2 and the new Neil Young cd - awesome!
