Does anyone know if the xbox 360 will support true 1920x1080 resolution over the optional VGA cable? I know that as of now there is no HDMI or DVI cable available, but I would like to hook the xbox360 into my 37" 1080p LCD. Supposedly the VGA cable wil support 1920x1080p, just curious if anyone has more information. I assume that image quality via VGA at true 1920x1080 will be superior to 1080i over component. Hopefully, I will be able to sync my LCD at 1920x1080 @60Hz, but before I pre-order the (overpriced) VGA cable I wanted to make sure.

right now, I don't think the system will have any games that support that resolution. Maybe sometime in the future, but right now you'll only see 1080i/720p.

I guess I should have been more clear. I am aware that ALL xbox 360 games are going to be HD, a large majority of the first release titles are going to be 720p, BUT the xbox may upscale the output to 1080i or even 1080p. What really interests me is the possibility of upscaling to 1080p. What would be even better would be if it would upscale DVD play back! Anyway, I am just going to go ahead and pre-order the VGA cable and see how it works out. I will report back in late november!

As far as I know right now the system won't support 1080p. Microsoft said that possibly sometime in the future it will, but currently it won't.

It was reported by an MS spokesperson that the only two resolutions supported over VGA are 1024 *768, and 1920*1080i, so there is one resolution for full screen users and one for widescreen users...

There is no support for 1080p right now. They might do it in the future, but no one knows how or when.
