... so I can connect Samsung 50" DLP (via HDMI), HD DirecTivo (via HDMI) and Oppo DVD via DVI.
Any recommendations? I looked at the Denon 3806 (out of my price range).

look into the new JVC's. They are the lowest cost with HDMI switching.

Basicaly the JVC's come in 2 models the 402 and the 702, both with HDMI. You can find the more expensive one (702) for around $550. Do a search for the difference in features between the two.
As far as other models, I'd be interested too as to what people here can recommend.
Guys,
Basically any receiver with 2 HDMI in and a DVI in, will be a high end receiver. The JVC has 2 HDMI in (no DVI), the Onkyo 803 has the same, the Yamaha 2600 and 4600, the same as do the others under $1500.
Yor choice then is to go with a high end receiver with all the inputs, or go with a switcher.

Why does there have to be a DVI in? The HDMI works the same or upconverts anything dont it? i mean like with a HDMI/DVI cable.

If you look at the original question so I can connect Samsung 50" DLP (via HDMI), HD DirecTivo (via HDMI) and Oppo DVD via DVI.
you will see why the post from me yesterday.
The guy wants to input 2 HDMI and 1 DVI. Of course the DVI can be converted to HDMI, but then you still have 3 HDMI in, and none of the basic receivers with HDMI swithching have 3 inputs...only 2.
Why would he want to input a tv? He's describing two inputs and one output. The JVC covers that.

I got the Yamaha HRT5990. Check out J&R's website and you'll see that's a pretty sweet deal...

bgbem,
You are correct. HDMI out goes to DLP TV, the other HMDI ins were for HDTivo and Oppo DVD (via DVI but will I convert to HDMI).
