Hi
I have a 36 inch TOshiba tube HDTV moniter.

It has two component ouputs but no DVI or HDMI.
If I ran a dvd player with upconversion like the Bravo D2 with this TV can I achieve the upconversion through the component cables?

I'm wondering about this because if I can get a resolution higher than 480p/i out of this TV for DVDs (it is an HDTV after all) that would be awesome.

I know DVI or HDMI is probably needed on the TV output to upconvert to 720p 1080 i etc but then again I've seen cables from infocus that are DVI at one end and component RGB on the other. DOes this cable convert digital to analog?would this cable allow for upconversion to work on my tV?

Please help anyone who knows about this at all.

thanks

I've read quite a number of posts where folks can hack the code on their upconverting players to get 1080i/720p from component cables. Most recently I read some of these on the Home Theater Spot, but look at some others as well (e.g. HDTVoice).

Also, try a broad search on Google for upconversion over component cables.
