EQ problems

Ok i got a RCA 31-5001 for like 10 bux but i cant get it to work.

I have it set up tape loop out to eq in and eq out to tape loop in. The EQs display works its like a 10 band display shows the music or whatever. but when i turn tape loop on my rx on it just plays nuthing.

I dont have the instructions for the eq and there some other bottons, two of them are tape m 1 and 2 i know what those do then there bypass and a fue other things.

Maybe but its like new was still in the box with origanal packing. cant tell it any diffrent from new. And sopost to work 100%

Any one have any ideas as to why it might not be working?

Im useing a HK 3480 rx
