First off, thanks for taking the time to read(and maybe reply back) to this posting:

In early 03' i bought a Samsung 27" HDTV for $900(now the 05' model sells for as low as $400) , but after seeing how my Xbox360 performs in 1080i(the aspect ratio is not right in 4:3..obviously, and when set to widescreen the PQ is just not as sharp), i'm thinking it's a must add a second HDTV for our(wife/infant) apartment. Also i could use a second HDTV as my son basically owns this HDTV when he's awake.

I don't intend on getting anything on the real cheap side, such as say the Sanyo HDTV's.

So i have narrowed it down to these 30" HDTV's:

Panasonic's CT-30WXX15

Samsung's Slimfit TX-R3079

Sony's KV-30HS420

Or should i simply go with the best rated(by cnet) 34" HDTV from Sony:

If the 30" Sony has the exact same picture quality as the Sony 34" , then i can live with a 30" set easily, but if it's a clear difference then i will go higher.

I will say i do like how Sony's sets upscale SDTV to near HD quality, but i also respect Panasonic's quality as well as Samsung's, as well.

Whichever i choose it's going to have to last for at least 3 years if not up to 5years, as were looking to buy as home soon, and were straped form money.

Thanks guys, i the past i would have alot more time to do research to not even have to ask this question, but my 2yr old son demands alot of my time.

I would go for the TVs in this order

34" XBR
30" XS
30" Panasonic CT30WX15
30" Sony HS420
Then the slimfit.

I pick the Panasonic over the HS420 because the Panasonic is better in my opinion then that model Sony and the panasonic has a better price point. The 34" and 30" are basically the Sony Super Fine Pitch TVs and both are very good if you can put the money into it. Panasonic is the less expensive way out. All the TVs are very nice sets and you will be happy with whatever one you pick. I don't recommend the slimfit though just becuase i like the picture on all the rest way more.

I'm curious, how would the below 26" LCD compare PQ wise to those CRT's? As usually i;m not big on LCD PQ, but these looked like they had great PQ at Best Buy last week.

Get the XBR960. If you are spending 1400 then spend the extra. Watch for sales I waited 6 months got the xbr for 1699 and stand built for free for 250 from Circuit City.
Good luck

that is not the KD34XBR960, it is the KV34HS420 and is not the top rated TV by cnet
the KD34XBR960 is

there is a huge difference between these two TVs
the HS420 is the entry level 34" and the XBR is a top of the line CRT
with a professional quality tube
